Proper peptide reconstitution

Our peptides are supplied in lyophilized (freeze-dried) form, which is resistant to short-term temperature fluctuations, for example during transport. At room temperature, peptides in powder form remain stable for several weeks. It is, however, important to ensure proper storage to maintain the required premium quality.

Before being used for research purposes, the lyophilized powder must be reconstituted, that is, a solution must be created by mixing the powder with a suitable solvent.

Correct reconstitution is essential for maintaining the potency and bioactivity of peptides, and therefore for obtaining accurate and reliable results in further research and experiments.

Start by preparing your workspace
As with all research work, absolute sterility and cleanliness are essential when preparing the environment for peptide reconstitution. Before starting the process, wash your hands thoroughly and put on sterile protective clinical gloves and goggles. Make sure you have all the necessary supplies ready: - Lyophilized peptide in a glass vial - Sterile syringe - Solvent (bacteriostatic water) - Gloves and safety goggles A clean, sterile environment is critical for accurate research results.
Prepare the peptide and solvent
Choosing the right solvent is a critical step in peptide reconstitution and depends on the specific properties of each peptide. At Molequa® we recommend bacteriostatic water, which is optimal for this process. Before starting reconstitution, it is essential to let both the peptide powder and the solvent, which have been stored in the freezer, warm up to room temperature. Using cold solvent could disrupt the entire process. Next, carefully remove the central section of the metal cap from the vial and thoroughly clean the top with an alcohol swab to ensure sterility. Repeat this procedure when opening the solvent bottle.
Adding the solvent
Precise handling is critical when adding the solvent to the lyophilized peptide. Using a sterile syringe, draw up the required amount of solvent and slowly inject it into the vial containing the peptide powder, tilted at a 45° angle so the liquid runs down the inner wall. Perform this step carefully to minimize the formation of bubbles and foam, ensuring uniform dissolution of the peptide.
Storing peptide solutions
Storage of lyophilized peptide powder requires a temperature of at least +4 °C, and long-term storage at −20 °C or lower. With peptide solutions, the shelf life is limited. Freezing aliquots will extend the peptide's shelf life, peptide solutions are generally stable for 3 or more weeks at +4 °C and 3 to 4 months at −20 °C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing, however, as this can significantly degrade peptides.
