Research context
Longevity research focuses on the cellular pathways of ageing. What is MOTS-c?
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome itself. Research examines its role in glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity and metabolic adaptation to exercise, which is why the literature sometimes calls it an exercise mimetic. The data come mainly from cell and animal models.
Does Epithalon lengthen telomeres?
Published work, mostly from the Russian school of Khavinson, studies the effect of Epithalon on telomerase activity in cell cultures. These are small studies with limited independent replication. It is not a proven effect in humans and Epithalon is not approved by any regulator.
What is NAD+ and why is it linked to ageing?
NAD+ is a coenzyme present in every cell, central to mitochondrial energy production and a substrate for sirtuins and PARP enzymes. The literature describes declining levels with age; research examines the link to mitochondrial function and DNA repair.
